Capital Improvement Projects

All updates are from Matthew Hill from EMC Inc.

Bethlehem -- I met with MB Mechanical and their ductwork contractor first thing Monday morning. I also met with Froling to review their scope of work, project schedule, and coordination with MB Mechanical. Froling has scheduled their portion of the project for August 13–14.

MB Mechanical was onsite this week to begin demolition in the boiler room. On Monday and Tuesday, they completely disassembled the existing boiler and prepared it for removal. The remaining piping and exhaust flue have been capped and made ready for the new boiler installation. The existing domestic hot water heater will remain in service throughout the project to provide the school with hot water. Once the new boiler is installed and operational, the existing oil-fired water heater and all associated fuel oil equipment will be removed.

The crane company and rigging crew are scheduled to be onsite next week to remove the existing boiler and set the new boiler in place. They are confirming the exact date early next week, and I will pass that information along as soon as I receive confirmation. On Wednesday, MB Mechanical will begin removing the existing classroom ERV units and preparing the wall chases for the new ductwork installation.

Presby has experienced equipment delivery delays. The new propane tanks are now scheduled to be delivered on July 13. They plan to begin construction of the new tank pad the same day and expect to complete that work by July 15.

Axion will finish the remaining building weatherization work at Profile on Monday, weather permitting, before moving to Bethlehem on Tuesday. Their work will begin with sealing exterior windows and building penetrations, followed by installation of new exterior door weatherstripping and associated hardware later in the week. They anticipate completing their work at Bethlehem next week before moving on to Lafayette the following week.

Lafayette -- DHI completed the rough-in installation of the new intake and exhaust louvers for the library ERV this week. Due to a scheduling delay, installation of the new ERV ductwork has been rescheduled for Monday, July 6.

The electrical contractor was onsite this week preparing the wiring for the new classroom unit ventilators, which are scheduled to begin installation next week. While onsite, they also completed the wiring for the gym unit and will return later next week to complete the wiring for the library ERV.

DHI's cabinetry installer got delayed and is now scheduled to begin the classroom cabinet modifications in the '65 Wing on Monday.

ENE completed the classroom controls wiring earlier this week. They will return next week to focus on the gym unit and cabinet heater wiring, as well as begin installing and wiring the new thermostats.

Ridgeline is scheduled to begin the exterior soffit and trim replacement on Monday 7/06.

I spoke with Axion this morning, and they confirmed a July 13 start date for the Lafayette project. They are currently progressing through the district, beginning with Profile School this week.

I have also confirmed a July 13 start date for KWS Roofing.

Profile -- Axion was onsite Monday morning to begin the building weatherization work. They started by sealing exterior windows and building penetrations. Due to the extreme weather conditions, they were unable to complete the remaining work and will return on Monday, July 6, to finish installing the exterior door weatherstripping and associated hardware.

MB Mechanical was onsite Tuesday afternoon to begin demolition in the boiler room. The existing boilers were stripped down and prepared for removal. To avoid draining the entire heating system, they capped the supply and return lines at the circulator pumps and boiler feed. The existing domestic hot water boiler will remain in service as long as possible to provide the school with hot water throughout the project. Once the new boilers are installed and operational, the remaining boiler and all associated fuel oil equipment will be removed.

The new boilers are currently scheduled for delivery during the week of July 13. MB Mechanical will return with their rigging crew to remove the existing boilers, set the new equipment in place, and begin installation. I will continue to monitor the schedule closely and keep everyone informed of any updates.

Presby has notified me of material delivery delays that have pushed back their start date. They are now planning to begin work on July 13 with tree removal and site preparation for the new propane tank pad. Equipment is scheduled to arrive on the morning of July 10. Their goal is to complete the pad site preparation and trenching by the end of the week so the concrete pad can be poured shortly thereafter.
