Bethlehem -- On Monday afternoon, I received great news that the suspicious materials identified last week tested negative. With that behind us, we will be moving forward with the lead paint abatement in classrooms for the ductwork penetrations. APS Environmental, the lead abatement contractor, will be onsite Monday, July 27 for a site visit to finalize the scope and begin planning the work.

MB Mechanical- MB Mechanical continued reconfiguring piping this week in preparation for the boiler delivery on Wednesday. The rigging company was onsite Wednesday morning to remove the old sectional boiler and deliver the new boiler rack and header assembly. MB Mechanical successfully mounted the boiler rack and began plumbing the hot water loop. Next week, they will continue piping the new boilers.

Presby Energy: Presby Energy completed the installation and inspection of the new propane tank farm this week. Early next week, they will begin trenching from the tank farm to the building. They will also continue installing the new propane line along the rear of the school and complete the installation of the kitchen regulator.

After reviewing the installation, we decided to route the gas line down the access drive side of the building before transitioning underground into the boiler room. That work will continue throughout next week.

Axion: Axion completed the sealant work on the upper portions of the building this week. They will return on Monday to finish the remaining items and complete their portion of the project.

Lafayette --

DHI: DHI completed the piping and controls installation for the new library ERV unit this week. All classroom unit heaters (CHUs) in the entryway have also been completed. Early next week, the sealing contractor will apply a specialized sealant between the existing block wall and the new unit to complete the installation.

The team also installed and painted the new trim around the classroom unit ventilators. The hot water loop was filled with glycol, circulated to remove any trapped air, pressurized, and thoroughly inspected for leaks. Out of the hundreds of new connections that were made, only two very minor leaks were found, both of which were repaired immediately. That is an impressive accomplishment by the installation team!

Factory representatives for the new equipment will be onsite July 28–29 to perform startup, commissioning, and system testing. DHI will also complete the remaining punch list items and prepare to transition to their next project.

ENE: ENE completed all classroom controls wiring this week. Next week, they will focus on completing the controls for the new gym and library ERV units in preparation for factory start-up.

Once all of the new equipment is operational, they will integrate the new controllers into the building automation system and complete the remaining items in their scope of work.

Kevin W. Smith & Sons Roofing: Kevin W. Smith & Sons completed the roofing project on Wednesday.

As part of the project, a new emergency scupper drain was installed on the upper roof section to help direct excess stormwater away from the main entrance. It is believed that ponding during heavy rain events has been causing water to overflow toward the front entry, contributing to erosion beneath the entrance walkway.

The primary roof drains will continue to handle normal rainfall. However, if they become overwhelmed during extreme weather, the emergency scupper will safely direct excess water away from the building. Crushed stone and grading will be added beneath the scupper to further improve drainage and protect the foundation and walkway.

Ridgeline: Dan from Ridgeline temporarily paused work this week while the roofing project was being completed. He plans to return now that the roofing work is finished.

Profile --

Axion: Axion successfully completed their portion of the project this week. We appreciate their efforts and look forward to the improvements they have made benefiting the building for years to come.

Presby Energy: Presby Energy continues to experience delays on a challenging project elsewhere in the district, which has impacted their schedule at Profile.

This week, they began preparing the propane tank pad site by clearing the majority of the brush and smaller trees. After evaluating the remaining trees, they determined they were larger than could be safely removed with their equipment. A professional arborist has been scheduled to remove the remaining trees.

Once the trees have been cleared, Presby will begin trenching for the new gas lines and constructing the concrete forms for the tank pad. They anticipate starting this work early next week.

Calkins Excavation was also onsite this week to review the existing fuel oil tank in preparation for its removal. They will begin that work after Presby completes the trenching and installation of the new underground gas lines.

MB Mechanical: MB Mechanical was onsite to verify field measurements and finalize the logistics for the boiler delivery, which has been rescheduled for July 29.

They will return to the site on Monday to prepare the new boiler pad and pour the concrete. Once the new boilers are delivered and set in place on Wednesday, they will begin piping, equipment installation, and system assembly.
